The Fletcher Collective is hosting a monthly reading group. We meet on the second Thursday of every month. On June 10, we’ll gather in our yellow living room to talk about "Where are you going, where have you been?" by Joyce Carol Oats.
You are invited. The reading group is accessible, no matter what your confidence level. We take the perspective that no ideas are ‘right’ or ‘wrong’ in literary criticism. There’s no conclusion to interpretation.
For a digital copy of the story, contact us using fletchercollective@gmail.com.
The reading group is participant lead. From the selection of the readings to the format of the discussions, everything about the group is democratically determined. We’re open to anything – you name it: fiction, comics, non-fiction, poetry, creative non-fiction – what we’re especially into is first-rate recommendations. What readings do you want to talk about?

Twice as many experiences of what the alternatives to corporate power look like.

Detroit has lost nearly half its population and more than 15,000 businesses since its peak, and 70,000 vacant lots now cover one third of the city. However, promise is blooming today in numerous community gardens and urban agriculture projects. Join Ashley Atkinson from Greening of Detroit, local activist Olga Bonfiglio, and some of Kalamazoo's urban farmers for a fascinating, hopeful look at how Michigan can make the transition from manufacturing to agriculture.
This month, we'll be reading "Boar Taint," by Bonnie Jo Campbell. Contact us at fletchercollective@gmail.com for a digital copy.
